Change for Middle Class Led for Unions?

I do agree this order signals the beginning of a new government. The question remains. Is it the one we want? Will we still have freedom of choice? Will we still have freedom of speech?

Change to Win Statement on President Obama's Executive Orders for Working America

/PRNewswire/ -- Change to Win chair Anna Burger released the following statement today regarding President Obama's White House ceremony to sign four worker-related executive orders into law, including the creation of the Middle Class Working Families Task Force led by Vice-president Joe Biden.

"Change to Win, its seven unions and six million members, applaud President Obama and Vice-President Biden for continuing to stand up for working families by taking bold actions to restore the economy, rebuild the middle class and renew the American Dream. Today's executive orders are further proof that when workers vote for pro-worker candidate, workers win.

"Today, the Obama administration reaffirmed its commitment to America's workers. Taken together, these orders show that the administration recognizes the federal government's responsibility, as the nation's largest purchaser of goods and services, to set model employment standards for private sector workers, as well as for the direct federal workforce.

"Millions of American families are facing tough decisions when they gather around the kitchen table trying to find how to survive the economic recession. Can they pay for their health care bills as well as the home over their heads? Will they ever be able to retire or will their golden years be spent working at the Golden Arches? Workers' wages are the single largest source of consumer spending. Stimulating worker wage increases will help drive consumption and generate economic growth.

"The mandate of the Middle Class Working Families Task Force sends a clear signal of a new government. A government that makes sure working Americans are treated with the dignity and respect at the work place that everyone deserves. A government that understands that rebuilding the American Dream and fixing the economy means creating more than just jobs, it means creating good jobs with a wage that can support a family, benefits that can keep them healthy, and a secure and dignified retirement.

"We look forward to working with the new administration and Vice-President Biden on the Middle Class Working Families Task Force. Vice-President Biden has proven time and again his leadership and commitment to workers' issues and we are honored for the chance to work alongside him. On behalf of the growing numbers of workers who belong to unions as well as the millions more who are struggling to secure a fair voice in the workplace, we must explore every avenue available to create change that works now and for generations to come."

Lincoln's Faith in Republican Party Through the Storm

In reading a 1920 journal, I came across an article about the birth of the Republican Party. Within the article was the following:

"....From a careful study of Lincoln's life for the first few
months of 1856, it can be fairly deduced that it was the
Pittsburgh convention that finally convinced him that it was
the Republican party that would carry the country safely
through the storm that was impending......

Tired of the Bash

The news and talk shows are interesting to listen to these days. Sometimes, there are some very valid points. And then there's...

Why is it that hard core Democrats place all the blame on President Bush when Congress was controlled by Democrats?

How is the economic stimulus plan really going to help the economy? Build a road to where? And how long will that job last?

Why not let those who take from the government give back?

Why does Geithner appoint a lobbyist?

Why does the White House and friends sound like sore winners?

Just a thought. Just want to hear constructive criticism by those whose voices are heard most often. Just tired of the bash.

Another Look Needed for RicK Warren's Inaugural Prayer

As a member of Twitter, I sometimes see some really interesting articles which make me go back and look at something that has happened-- and sometimes, these articles make me think.

Such is the case with this article by Chuck Norris on Rick Warren's recent inaugural prayer.

Fascinating. Oh, and I sure did notice the Obama family did not pray along.

Take home message: Pray that God's will be done!

Thanks to TeamRonMiller for posting it.

More On the Spending Package Revealed

I was just sent this link on some specifics of the stimulus package. Take time and read the article. You might as well go and bury the family silver because someone has to pay for all that sod and birth control.

Thanks to the Read My Lipstick Network for getting this out.

Speak Now to Save a Free America

The big push is on. It's the big push that, in my opinion, has the potential to destroy America and our way of life.

The economic stimulus plan that will "save" us is chock full of pork and government takeovers. Be careful America.

If you don't speak up now to let your members of Congress know what you think, we may lose America and our precious freedoms.

Time is of the essence. The vote could happen on January 28.

Such Good Intentions

Intentions can be good. They can be bad. We've all had intentions that did not go as we planned. Or at least, some will say, "I didn't mean to do it." Kind of sounds like something children will say when they get caught.

Just look at me. I had every intention of completing my ironing today. Oops.

I have been interested in watching the new President as he begins his administration. First, I am dismayed that one of his first acts in these troubling economic times is to send our taxpayer dollars overseas. The cause is to assist poorer countries with abortion. Now, I am not one to say whether abortion is good or bad. I truly believe the matter is one of self reflection and religious beliefs. For me, had I ever been in that spot, I most likely would not have had one. But I can't say for sure even with all my intentions.

Another early hot topic for the President was to freeze his senior White House Staff pay. First, they have only been on the job for 24 hours, so isn't that kind of silly? How many companies will tell you on the first day that they've frozen your pay? Are (Were) you really expecting a pay increase that fast?

I went online and found the actual order. It's interesting as the media proclaimed he had frozen the pay. If you read the actual order, it clearly states that it is his INTENTION to do so.

All he has to do is what an unruly child does and say, "I didn't mean to do it."

You can walk the walk, or talk the talk, but you still have to prove you can do it.

Time, America, time.

Praying for America

We've all heard the words during the campaign. "We are not conservatives or liberals. We are Americans."

Today is the day to put all aside and remember to pray for the leadership of our great land. Pray that God will guide Barack Obama and that he will have the wisdom to listen and to follow.

Ethical, Honest, and Open Promises - Broken

Back in 2006, Pelosi said the Dems would have the most honest, ethical and open government. Earmark reform was a hot topic and senators would have to be be open about whose getting the money.

The question becomes have they? Watch the video by PBS on this subject.

Senators, shame on you for keeping the secrets on ethic reform from the public. Senators, shame on you for rewording the legislation to provide loopholes so you don't have to tell the public the truth.

Change Like Lincoln? Separate Countries in Our Future?

I've been watching how Bark Orama is trying to reincarnate into Abraham Lincoln. All of a sudden, it is Lincoln this and Lincoln that with Bark Orama showing how much he is like Lincoln.

Didn't Lincoln divide the country first? Remember, the South said, "I don't think so" and started their own country for a time. Remember when the Civil War started, Mr. Lincoln Wanna Be?

So, is that his plan? First to divide, then conquer? Only who will be "the rebels" this time?

Or will he give a speech saying, "United we stand, divided we fall"?

Just wondering.

Time to Think of America's Backbone- Small Business

Bark Orama seems to have brought change already. Why, just look at his old campaign speeches and those of now. What happened to small business?

Obama's Latest Speech Continues to Ignore Small Businesses

/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In his latest speech on the economy, President-elect Barack Obama has once again failed to make even a single mention of America's small businesses, which create nearly 80 percent of net new jobs, and employ 50.4 percent of private sector workers....

Muslim or What? Why the Focus?

I found this article interesting as a Muslim magazine is focusing on Bark Orama. So, the big question is, why? Doesn't he keep saying he's not a Muslim? Guess they think there is more to the story than his public professions of faith. So what do they know about the proverbial skeleton in the closet?

Now there's a new way to "hold on to hope." Yep, you can now purchase a rock with Bark Orama's face on it. Hold it in your hand. Feel the power. Tap into the feelings.

Hustler's Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis Ask for Government Bailout of the Adult Entertainment Industry

Excuse me? The adult entertainment industry wants a government bailout? This is just going way too far-- but then I guess that is what that industry promotes.

/PRNewswire/ -- As the 2009 AVN Adult Expo opens in Las Vegas this week, Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis and HUSTLER magazine publisher Larry Flynt are petitioning the newly convened 111th Congress to provide a financial bailout for the adult entertainment industry along the lines of what is being sought by the Big Three automakers, a spokesperson for Francis announced today.

Adult industry leaders Flynt and Francis sent a joint request to Congress asking for $5 billion in federal assistance, "Just to see us through hard times," Francis said. "Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation's most important businesses, we feel we deserve the same consideration. In difficult economic times, Americans turn to entertainment for relief. More and more, the kind of entertainment they turn to is adult entertainment."

But according to Flynt the recession has acted like a national cold shower. "People are too depressed to be sexually active," Flynt says, "This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex."

While not to the degree felt by banks and automakers, the Adult Entertainment industry has been hit by the effects of the economic downturn. DVD sales and rentals have decreased by 22 percent in the past year as viewers turn to the internet for adult entertainment. It is estimated that roughly half of all internet users visit adult sites, with the number of unique visitors to adult websites (including and has grown to more than 75 million per month.

But the "saltpeter" effect remains.

"With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind," Flynt says, "It's time for congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America. The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly."

"The popularity of adult entertainment in America has grown steadily for the past half century," Francis says. "Its emergence into the mainstream of popular culture suggests that the US government should actively support the adult industry's survival and growth, just as it feels the need to support any other industry cherished by the American people."

I was just cruising around the site News Busters when I saw a story from December that caught my attention. Apparently, CNN had primed children to think that Michelle should be paid for being First Lady.

Middle East in Conflict

This is a pretty interesting take on the situation in the Middle East. Thought you'd like to read it as well....

...Why would the State of Israel attack Gaza by air, and threaten invasion on the ground? After all, the target of operations has been the territory that Israel withdrew its forces from under Ariel Sharon, dismantling and destroying Israeli settlements as it did so......
