That Bush! That Patriot!

President and Mrs Bush show patriotic pride and support as they spend time welcoming returning soldiers from war.  Guess we could all do a better job?  Hey, we can all sign up and do our voluntary community service that the new guy wants us to do---  this way!

Welcome home, brave warriors.

Czar or Master? It's Not the Name that is the Question

I enjoyed the comment by Chris regarding my last post about the power of the czars. Chris is so right when he stated the Keith Feinberg is the Special Master for Executive Compensation and it is his job to keep the bailed out bank executives in line. And Chris is so right when he says I wouldn't want bailout companies to place taxpayer money in the executive pockets. Agreed.

However, the term czar is used by mainstream media in referring to Mr. Feinberg and the presidential advisors. So, yes, they are commonly known as czars. Actually, Mr. Feingberg is quoted in an October 20, 2009 article and refers to himself as "pay czar", although he made it clear he doesn't like the term.

So, my question remains for czars in general. How many of them are supposed to be just advisors? To my knowledge, less than half of the advisors or czars were confirmed by Congress. How much power are they wielding? And why is it that these czars are now in the center of the executive branch and in the news? It seems to me that in the past, when they were talked about in the news, they were described as "presidential advisors" - no matter who the President was at the time.

Is it because I watch the news more now? Or is it because so many of them have pasts that appear, well, appear not so sunny? Just wondering...

Where Does Any Czar get the Power Over the People?

Here a czar, there a czar, and now they have the power? The power to what? The power from whom? Under what Constitutional section?

I just don't understand how a czar appointed by Obama can appear to do just what he pleases with no oversight by anyone-- including the President.

This story clearly demonstrates how bizarre our land of the free has become.....

Unbelievable! Pay Czar cut executives’ compensation without White House approval

From Fox News:
White House pay czar Kenneth Feinberg was the driving force behind the move to order steep pay cuts from bailed-out executives, and did not even seek the president’s approval before making his decision.

The Treasury Department is expected to formally announce in the next few days a plan to slash annual salaries by about 90 percent.....http://politicalintegritynow.com/2009/10/unbelievable-pay-czar-cut-executives-without-white-house-approval/

Pledging to Serve the Master

I've been seeing red for a few hours now. The news stories out about the speech the president intends to give to students on Tuesday have coupled my thoughts with the "I pledge my service to the president" video. So I've had to ponder what I was going to say.

You know, my family has longed served America, whether it be elected officials at the local and state levels up to the White House. Some, like my dad and grandfather, served America by protecting her in times of war. But, the theme has been consistent. Serve America. Protect America. Protect the Constitution.

Now, I haven't served America in those first couple of ways just mentioned. Instead, one of the ways I serve my country is to teach others about some of the history of our country. Yep, I'm an invited speaker in my local schools to talk about the history of the Constitution. In these talks, I try to bring the Constitution to mean more than just a piece of paper to these kids. I hope I've been successful with some of them.

That brings me to the upcoming talk and the information provided by the people in charge of this talk next week. The kids are supposed to be encouraged to stay in school. Ok, I'll buy that. But it doesn't take 20 minutes to do that, nor has any president had that kind of influence on my educational choices in my lifetime. But, let's not dwell on that.

Keep reading and you see the kids are to be encouraged to read books about the presidents and Obama. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but historical books about presidents typically happen after their time in office is over. So, I'm a little concerned about these books about the current president that children are supposed to read.

The next course is a suggested plan for teachers to have children write letters about they can help the president. Help the president do what?

Top that with the video just shown in a Utah school in which the kids are to pledge their service to their president, and well, my senses are on overdrive. Pledge service to their president? Pledge service to a public servant who, by definition, is to serve our country and her people?

Ok. I'll write a letter on how I can be of help to the president. It will even cover the second letter of how he inspires me. Here it is:

I can be of help to the president by getting on my knees daily and praying that he will seek God's guidance.

You see, it's really quite simple. I already serve a Master. I already serve the One who sent His son to die for me. So, oops, can't take that pledge to serve a man.

Oh- and there are some great books about the One I serve. Just in case you're in need.

Today's Poll Paints the Picture for Obama

Looks like a picture is worth a thousand words.

Biden Admits Stimulus Not Working and Americans are being Scammed

So the biggest rush in history to spend the most money in history to create jobs is not working. Joe Biden admitted On ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos over the weekend that people are being scammed with the stimulus.

Does this mean he thinks Democrats are scamming Americans?

Where are the jobs? Shouldn't everyone be asking that question to Congress and to the president? Shouldn't the stimulus package be scrapped now? Shouldn't Congress and the president be willing to listen to alternate points of view since theirs are falling miserably short?

Early Popular President and His Ideas? Not so much..

VWV Note: The news was just full of it yesterday. The general theme heard across the land was,"Look how popular the president is." Well, maybe at first blush.

Take a second look and note that only Bill Clinton had lower marks at this time in his administration. Everyone else's ranking has been better since the pollsters starting keeping this data.

Take a third look. Note how the staff that Obama appointed and how his ideas of changing America really aren't so popular. Guess the MSM can't spill that can of worms since they have so much riding on him.

Popular president? Maybe, but his plans? Not so much.

Obama Administration Gets Negative Marks in First 100 Days

/PRNewswire/ -- A recent CNN/Opinion Research Poll shows that President Obama continues to enjoy 63 percent approval rating. His cabinet choices and their proposals are a disappointment to Americans, however, according to a Zogby International/O'Leary Report 100-Days Poll.

The poll covered a broad range of questions from frozen credit markets and gun control to energy and media diversity. "Sooner or later the public's opposition to the President's proposals will eventually take its toll on his job approval numbers. The dichotomy between President Obama's personal popularity and his unpopular proposals cannot continue. How long will the President ride a wave of popularity if his objectives are out-of-synch with most Americans?" asked Brad O'Leary, president and publisher of The O'Leary Report and author of Shut Up, America! The End of Free Speech (WND Books).

Results of the Zogby International/O'Leary Report Poll reveal fissures in the Obama Administration's agenda:

Acting FCC Chairman Michael Copps / FCC Chairman Designate Julius Genachowski

The FCC is moving ahead with its plant to increase its diversity of ownership and diversity of content with the first hearings scheduled for May 7th. Genachowski and Regulatory czar Cass Sunstein also favor a fairness doctrine for the Internet.

Q. Senator Durbin recently offered an amendment in the U.S. Senate that
requires the Federal Communications Commission to take actions to
encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu

On Earth Day, Secretary Chu warmly embraced the administration's cap-and-trade proposal, stating, "We must state in no uncertain terms we have a responsibility to our children to curb emissions from fossil fuels..."

Q. President Obama wants to impose cap-and-trade laws that would limit
the total carbon dioxide emissions allowed to be released into the
environment. These laws would turn carbon dioxide into a commodity
allowing those that pollute less to sell credits to those that pollute
more. These credits would be traded on commodities markets. According to
congressional testimony given by the Director of the nonpartisan
Congressional Budget Office, "decreasing emissions would also impose
costs on the economy - much of those costs will be passed along to
consumers in the form of higher prices for energy and energy intensive
goods." Some have estimated these costs to be $800 to $1300 more per
household by 2015. Knowing this, do you support or oppose cap-and-trade
laws?

Support 30%
Oppose 57%
Not sure 13%

Education Secretary Arne Duncan

Last month, Education Secretary Arne Duncan let Congress kill a District of Columbia voucher program while he was sitting on evidence of its success.

Q. President Obama's Education Secretary recently rescinded 200
scholarships previously awarded through the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship
Program, a school choice program that allows low-income students to

The Buck Stops at the Head of the Table

Ever been to a training session at a huge company? Well, I have when I worked for a Fortune 500 company. Let me tell you what was said about problems with issues.

You don't pass blame. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the man at the top of the heap. Why? Because his policy allowed the issue to happen.

With that said, the problem with the AIG bonus lies squarely on the boss of Geithner, that is, the President himself.

The calls are starting to come in for the resignation of Geithner. Perhaps, the man at the top should follow the lay of the land in corporate America training sessions on responsibility.

Video: DeMint calls on Geithner to resign, Geithner admits he contacted Dodd; Update: Harry Truman, call your office!

March 19, 2009
Ed Morrissey

Are they crazy? Don’t Jim DeMint and Johnny Isakson know that Tim Geithner is the only one working at Treasury? Well, I guess the problem is defining the word “working”, after the AIG debacle blew up in the faces of Geithner and Barack Obama, thanks to Chris Dodd singing like a canary yesterday. DeMint and Isakson publicly called for Geithner’s head:

Bully Tactics Again? Keep the Fear Alive

I always try to listen to a portion of the morning news while I'm in the kitchen just a cookin' and a cleanin'. Two different stories caught my attention while I was up to my elbows in soapy water. Now, I'm thinking that some mouths need to get washed out as well.....

You remember the recent inauguration speech with the reference made by the President that if the enemies of the United States would unclench their fists, he would extend the hand of friendship (or something like that). Anyway, during the speech, I took that statement to be for the enemies of our great country.

Just this morning, I guess I was wrong. George Stephanopolis used that same wording when he said the President would have to reclench his hand if the Republicans don't support the stimulus package and pass it this weekend. The big question here is who is the enemy of the United States? Is it Americans who believe the current stimulus package is wrong for the future of our country? Is it Americans who don't want a plan that was bullied into passing? Is the style of governing these days changing into a forced support? Will he take the non supporters out behind the woodshed and beat them up with his clenched fist? Hmmmm.

Another story this morning has its origins during the days of Martin Luther King. I truly believe Mr. King thought his word of nonviolence would work. The early days where fear of the unknown caused many Americans of many races to strike out against the other were not right. Hats off to the old gent who has now taken it upon himself to publicly apologize for his actions against those of a different race. He's asked for their forgiveness and for the forgiveness of the Lord. Now, I have to wonder if people of all races who have continued to keep fear alive will do the same?

Fear. It's a recurring theme these days. Fear of the unknown. Fear of the future. Fear for the safety of our country. Fear.

Best thing I can think to do is get on my knees and pray for our country and our leaders to open their eyes and seek to follow God's will.

Tired of the Bash

The news and talk shows are interesting to listen to these days. Sometimes, there are some very valid points. And then there's...

Why is it that hard core Democrats place all the blame on President Bush when Congress was controlled by Democrats?

How is the economic stimulus plan really going to help the economy? Build a road to where? And how long will that job last?

Why not let those who take from the government give back?

Why does Geithner appoint a lobbyist?

Why does the White House and friends sound like sore winners?

Just a thought. Just want to hear constructive criticism by those whose voices are heard most often. Just tired of the bash.

Big Government in the Words of Our President--- Jefferson, That Is

The following quote is attributed to President Thomas Jefferson. What wise men our founders were.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to
take everything you have.

Bingo.

Why the Constitution is in Danger and so are You

I just heard on the news that the man from New Jersey who had a suit in DC for Congress to see the birth certificate of Barack Obama has been denied.

I value the Constitution, therefore I find merit in knowing where he was born. To my knowledge, no place in Hawaii has wanted to claim he was born in Hawaii. To my knowledge, his own grandmother says he was born in Kenya. To my knowledge, he has yet to fulfill the law of the land of which he seeks to become president.

You want to be president? It's simple. Follow the rules that were agreed upon 221 years ago which state that only natural born American citizens can be president.

Does America value the Constitution? Or are those in power to scared to follow the rules?

If an authentic birth certificate cannot be produced, and the Electoral College votes to make Obama president, then our government no longer values the Constitution and will have opened the door for our demise.

Just a thought--
