Honored to Have the Patriots of Fort Hood Defend Our Nation,

America watched in horror as the news came out of Fort Hood yesterday.

American patriots rose quickly to the chaos surrounding them and protected the lives of others, even as they were attacked without being armed. Thank you to the brave patriots. America is honored to have you defend her.

When Obama finally spoke, his opening light hearted comments were so wrong. How could our President not have offered support to a nation who was in shock FIRST?

Conservatives Love Americans and Support Our Constitution

What a great Saturday night! First I watched the forecast for an alleged Sunday snow storm (still waiting on that one to appear) and I saw Rush Limbaugh's speech to CPAC aired again. It was great. Yes, we love America, Americans and support our Constitution!

RUSH: Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you all very, very much. Thank you all. I can't tell you how wonderful that makes me feel. It happens everywhere I go, but it's still special here. [ Laughter ] If you all will indulge me, I learned something, I guess, it's early Friday morning that I didn't know. Friday morning is when I learned this. I learned that Fox, God love them, is televising this speech on the Fox News Channel, which means, ladies and gentleman, this is my first ever address to the nation. This We Know, God is Nigh

Just this week, someone sent an email with the alleged origins of Taps. I found the story hard to swallow, so I did a little research. It would appear the story circulating about the Union Soldier who found his moaning Confederate son dying on the battlefield is inaccurate.

Instead, the wide belief is during the Civil War that General Daniel Butterfield of the Army of the Potomac felt the bugle tune of "Lights Out" was too formal. He reworked the tune with the help of his bugler, Oliver Wilcox Norton.

Whatever the origin, this soulful tune brings tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat whenever I hear it. The tune is deeply wrenching to the families in its use in military funerals. In all the mourning emotions brought out during the playing of this tune, there is hope.

My newly widowed mother placed ear plugs in her ears in the hope she wouldn't have to listen to the tune when her gentle warrior giant was laid to rest. She felt she would never stop crying if she listened to it at that particular moment. Instead, as the bugler played Taps on the hill off in the distance, accompanied by a 21 gun salute, she bowed her head. Later, she said the ear plugs did not cover the melody of Taps. Rather, the notes were muffled and among the most beautiful she had ever heard.

With that said, and with the memories of Taps in my head as I write, let me leave you with one of the versions of lyrics for the tune.

Yes, America, God is nigh. With all of the discouraging news right now, let us not forget, God is nigh.

The Beginning of the End

Last night as I watched the news, the only soundbite used in the signing of the stimulus package was Barack Obama saying, "This is the beginning of the end." My question is, of what?

I can't remember if it was the local news affiliate who played that lonely statement or if it was the national news but I do know it was on ABC. That one statement can mean so much to so many different people.

Does it mean the beginning of the end of America? The end of democracy? The end of the recesssion? The end of job losses? The end of the world as we know it? The end of the world? The end of the political parties? The end of Wall Street? The end of individuals having some privacy left? The end of the best health care system in the world? The end of free choice? The end of hope?

Praying for America

We've all heard the words during the campaign. "We are not conservatives or liberals. We are Americans."

Today is the day to put all aside and remember to pray for the leadership of our great land. Pray that God will guide Barack Obama and that he will have the wisdom to listen and to follow.

Where is Your Passport? All of them

I saw the article posted by the Read My Lipstick Network on the "others' take on the citizenship issue. I don't buy everything they say, but for the purposes of this post, let's assume I bite.

Ok- Obama is born in Hawaii in some hospital that won't admit it.

How did he go to school in Indonesia on an Indonesian passport? Since Indonesia doesn't recognize dual citizenship, wouldn't his American passport have been surrendered? Wouldn't he have had to renounce his American citizenship?

So, if we take the "others" argument to heart, doesn't renouncing citizenship to a country mean you are no longer a citizen? If this is true ( and to my knowledge, Indonesia has laid claim to his earlier citizenship of their country), then, at best, he is a naturalized citizen.

Still doesn't fit the qualifications as stated in the United States Constitution. And Congress still has their heads in the sand. Perhaps we should remember that at the next elections for your senators and congressmen.

Yep, change in America is here.

Beware- Looks Like Obama Plans to Have United Nations Tax America

An email came across today which talks about Senate Bill 2433, which Obama supports. Never did we hear about this during the campaign, but it has serious future financial obligations to the American taxpayer. Have the United Nations tax Americans?
