Statement by the NASA Administrator on the Chilean Miners Rescue

/PRNewswire/ -- The following is a statement from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden on the rescue effort for the Chilean miners.

Not Fly the American Flag in America?

What's wrong with this? How could anyone, especially in America, be told not to fly the American Flag? I'm stunned--

There's been a bunch of chatter regarding the presidential advisors and their roles of whispering in the ear of our president. More evidence is being found and released which suggests some of these advisors, who are also called czars, have some deep seated anti-American beliefs. Does anyone know how much influence they hold? Obama Adviser on 9/11: Blame 'U.S. Imperialism,' Reports Aaron Klein

/PRNewswire -- One day after the 9/11 attacks, President Obama's "green jobs czar" led a vigil that expressed solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans as well as what he called the victims of "U.S. imperialism" around the world, reports Aaron Klein of WorldNetDaily.

Klein previously reported Van Jones, special adviser for green jobs, enterprise and innovation to the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is an admitted black nationalist and radical communist.

Jones was the leader and founder of a radical group, the communist revolutionary organization Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement, or STORM. That group, together with Jones' Elle Baker Center for Human Rights, led a vigil Sept. 12, 2001, at Snow Park in Oakland, Calif.

STORM's official manifesto, titled, "Reclaiming Revolution" has surfaced on the Internet.

A review of the 97-page treatise found a description of a vigil that Jones' group held Sept. 12, 2001, at Snow Park in Oakland, Calif. The event drew hundreds and articulated an "anti-imperialist" line, according to STORM's own description.

The radical group's manual boasted the 9/11 vigil was held to express solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans and to mourn the civilians killed in the terrorist attacks "as well as the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world"

"We honored those who lost their lives in the attack and those who would surely lose their lives in subsequent U.S. attacks overseas" STORM's manifesto recalls.

Also, Klein obtained a press release of Jones' vigil, dated Sept. 11, 2001, and titled, "People Of Color Groups Gather to Stand In Solidarity With Arab Americans and to Mourn the East Coast Dead."

VWV Note: I'm stunned. I guess this is a feel good moment for...??? But, it's not such a feel good moment for me. This proposed date of September 20 is smack dab in the middle of our, yes-America's, Constitution Week. Fly a flag, alright. Make it American.

Education is the Key- So Why Don't We Try It?

Having a solid education is the key for opening doors and opportunities. On this one issue, it would appear the president and I agree strongly.

With that said, I was shocked this morning to read an article about the lack of education in our colleges and universities. The report released indicates a serious lack of teaching students about American government or American history. Actually, it said that of the 100 leading colleges and universities, only 11% require these courses. Only 53% require mathematics.

How can that be? Is it more important to learn to be a free thinker or to be a free thinker with knowledge in your head?

Maybe I'll start a survey. Now seems just like the perfect time as I reflect on a couple of upcoming American history events.

Quick. Tell me.

What was the Treaty of Paris? Is any part of it still in use today?
When was the United States Constitution framed?

Do you know the answers? I do.

There has been a flutter of new activity regarding the ongoing saga of where Obama was born. Was he a natural born American citizen at birth?

Conservatives Love Americans and Support Our Constitution

What a great Saturday night! First I watched the forecast for an alleged Sunday snow storm (still waiting on that one to appear) and I saw Rush Limbaugh's speech to CPAC aired again. It was great. Yes, we love America, Americans and support our Constitution!

The Ghost of Christmas Past

We finally gathered everyone in the house together so we could decorate the Christmas tree. The poor neglected tree has just been gathering dust downstairs for a couple of weeks. Schedules were just too hectic. Bah, humbug.

With the proclamation of "Tonight is the Night- NO matter what," the gala event took place last night. Let the Spirit fill us.

The TV was turned off and the classical Christmas hymns was turned on and enveloped us all in a sense of peace. The dogs posed for their Christmas photo, complete with reindeer atlers and a Santa hat. The family laughed, but more importantly, we laughed together. The little one found the 12 Days of Christmas book and alternated between singing and reading it aloud to the rest of us.

Lovingly, we looked at each ornament. Memories of long ago Christmases flew through the air. Here's the one from our first Christmas as man and wife, here's one from Baby's First Christmas, here's one my mama gave me when I bought my first house, and on and on.

The lump in my throat expanded with each ornament and soon the tears fell. So many Christmases have gone by. So many memories came alive. And for a time last night, my beloved mama and papa were in the room with me as my mind placed some of these same ornaments on the trees of my childhood.

I have so many favorite ornaments. Two memories that came to the surface last night included ornaments my mama had given me.

One is an American Flag with a 1991 date on it. My mom bought that ornament in memory of my dad, an American soldier. She wanted to honor my father's memory and wanted me to remember the service my dad gave to his country. At the time, I was kinda humbug about the ornament, but now the American Flag ornament is always in a place of prominence as I think about my dad and his commitment to our country.

The other ornament which caught my attention last night was a small gold church. When my mom gave it to me so many years ago, she made a statement. Not only did she make a statement, I can still clearly recall her face, her voice and her love as she made it. "I love this church with its steeple. I love having the church on a tree. After all, Jesus Christ and His Church are the only reason we have Christmas."

Rest in peace, my loving parents. May I always remember their love of God, home and country. May I continue to teach my children the same values.

Sacrificial Lambs or Americans?

Today begins the Muslim celebration of Eid al-adha, the festival of sacrifice. This festival is held for about three days as the Muslim faith honors Abraham and his obedience to God.

If you recall the story in the Bible, God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son. I imagine that would have been a hard direction to go, but the Bible tells us Abraham was willing to obey God in this. God intervened and spared his son by sending a sacrificial lamb to Abraham.

Now to the present---

It seems like we recently heard the remark by Barack Obama that all Americans must sacrifice. Gotta wonder what type of sacrifice was meant? Our children, our lives or just America?
